BAGUIO Bazaar

BAGUIO Bazaar @ the Garden Wing, CAP Convention Center, Camp John Hay, Baguio City

February 24, 25, 26 March 2, 3, 4 2010 (Friday to Sunday) 10am to 5pm

The BAGUIO Bazaar will be the first of its kind in the City of Pines. It will not only feature 100 carefully selected sellers from all over the country – also offered are a line-up of art workshops, an informal selling exhibit of the works of local artists & artisans, and various performances (music, dance, live literature reading, and short skits) from local artists. A raffle will be held every hour (more if there are enough raffle prizes) for those who will buy the P10 tickets we are offering at the entrances.

Baguio Bazaar

We are hoping to attract a large number of buyers, and the following are reasons we believe this can be accomplished: 1) the target dates (Feb. 24-26 & Mar. 2-4) will be the most visited weekends of the 2012 Panagbenga, 2) the venue sits right between 2 of the most populated call centers in Baguio (Convergys & IHG) both of which have thousands of employees in their roster, 3) we have the full cooperation of the executives of the CAP Convention Center who will back us up with the promotions & marketing of the event, and 4) our promotions & marketing strategies include aggressive internet (Facebook, Twitter, blogging etc.) publicity, responsible tarpaulin advertising in high-traffic areas, posters in as many establishments as will allow this in schools, churches, shopping establishments, storefronts, and the giving out of at least 10,000 fliers during high-traffic periods in Session Road & outside of schools (we use recycled paper for our fliers, to be environmentally responsible). We will be asking our friends in the newspaper, radio & television industry to promote our event as well.

We will also be going around the city asking for existing small businesses to support this bazaar by being part of the BAGUIO’S BEST wall, where promotional materials of Baguio-based entrepreneurial ventures can be displayed. One of our advocacies is to educate the public in regards to alternative places to visit within Baguio. Burnham Park, Wright Park, Mines View, and the Mansion are not the only places to go to in the City of Pines, and that big department store on the hill is not the only place to shop in, as the BAGUIO’S BEST wall can show.

The target market of this event is the A, B & upper C market of Baguio City, composed largely of the the existing college student population (Baguio is the Northern Philippines’ premier center of education, and according to the 2007 census, the city had a population of over 300,000, half of whom consist of students, many from the neighboring provinces), the aforementioned employees of the neighboring call centers, the guests of Camp John Hay, its Commissary, & The Manor, and lastly but most notably, the Panagbenga tourist crowd – if reports are to be believed, over 1 million tourists were expected to attend last year’s street parade – and an unofficial count pegged the final number at 6million tourists who participated in the entire festivities. It has been proven that Panagbenga brings in the visitors, and the BAGUIO Bazaar will be there to welcome them.
